Hacker stole about $100 million from the Harmony Protocol

A hacker hacked the Horizon blockchain bridge operating on the Harmony network and stole $100 million worth of cryptocurrency.

Horizon is a cross-chain bridge between the Harmony blockchain and the Bitcoin, Ethereum and Binance Chain networks.

The attacker reportedly conducted 11 transactions within 18 minutes. After that, he began transferring tokens for exchange for Ethereum to the Uniswap decentralized exchange.

Representatives of Harmony suspended the work of Horizon. They also stated that they had launched an investigation together with law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, and notified cryptocurrency exchanges about the situation.

At the same time, the team assured that the incident did not affect the trustless bridge for bitcoin – all funds are safe in decentralized repositories.
