Medvedev accused the West of luring IT specialists

The Russian Federation needs to fend off strong pressure from Western countries in the field of information technology. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting of the interdepartmental commission of the Security Council on ensuring the technological sovereignty of the state in the development of critical information infrastructure, RIA Novosti reports.

Russia regularly faces cyber attacks, technological blockade, massive processing of IT specialists who want to be lured abroad, Medvedev said.

According to him, there is nothing new in these “hostile measures”. “It has long been clear that at the first opportunity, the West will begin to use such levers of pressure and that we must have reliable protection from attacks by our opponents,” the deputy chairman of the Security Council said.

Dmitry Medvedev also called for faster implementation of domestic IT developments in government agencies and state-owned companies. According to him, the issues of technological sovereignty of the state in the field of critical information infrastructure are of particular importance, “and if we talk about the current situation, this is the highest importance.”

“All interested authorities, all state structures, all state-owned companies now need to act as quickly and smoothly as possible, over departmental barriers, as they say, otherwise we will simply be eaten,” Medvedev said.
