The draft law prohibiting non-state objects of critical information infrastructure (CII) from purchasing foreign software has already been agreed and will soon be submitted for discussion to the Government of the Russian Federation. This was announced by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Finance Maxim Parshin during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, reports TASS.
Earlier, the president signed a decree prohibiting government customers from purchasing foreign software for critical information infrastructure from March 31, 2022 without approval from the relevant department, and from 2025 the use of foreign programs at critical information infrastructure facilities will be completely prohibited.
“There will be a law that will extend such norms not only to state objects of critical information infrastructure, but also to any objects, including non-state objects of critical information infrastructure. Such a law has already been practically agreed upon and will soon be submitted to the government,” the deputy minister said.
