FSB employee accused of stealing cryptocurrency from a hacker from Syzran

A criminal case was opened against Demin, a former employee of the FSB in the Samara region. The security officer is suspected of stealing cryptocurrency from a cybercriminal. This is reported by the publication VolgaNews with reference to the regional department of the FSB.

According to investigators, a law enforcement officer participated in the disclosure of cybercrime. The suspect was a resident of Syzran Mochalov, to whom FSB officers came and documented the crime. Then the hacker said that his cryptocurrency disappeared after the visit of law enforcement officers. The damage is estimated at hundreds of millions of rubles.

During the trial, the cryptocurrency returned to Mochalov. However, representatives of the Main Military Investigation Department began to find out the details of what happened. Demin’s criminal case was transferred to Moscow.

Recall that in October 2021, the Syzran City Court found Mochalov guilty of distributing malicious computer programs and sentenced him to one year of restriction of freedom.
