In a branch of a psychiatric hospital located in the Moscow pre-trial detention center No. 2 “Butyrskaya Prison”, cryptocurrency was illegally mined.
The Investigative Committee began checking. The UK suspected Andrey Tsyganov, the head of the security department, of organizing mining.
According to investigators, in November 2021, Tsyganov, together with “unidentified persons”, installed “technical means for mining cryptocurrencies” in a mental hospital. The equipment worked until February 2022: during this period, 8,379.45 kW of electricity worth 62,175 rubles and 52 kopecks were spent on mining.
Investigators believe that the officer, together with his accomplices, installed mining equipment in a branch of the FSIN psychiatric hospital in November 2021. According to the UK, she worked for 3 months and spent 8,379.45 kW of electricity with a total cost of more than 62 thousand rubles.
Now the TFR in the Tverskoy district suspects the officer of exceeding his official powers (Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
“Butyrka” is the oldest pre—trial detention center in the country, the prison was built back in 1771.
