The deputy head of Roskomnadzor, Milos Wagner, at an expanded meeting of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy on amendments to the law on personal data, proposed to expand responsibility for theft and trafficking in them up to criminal punishment. The meeting was broadcast on the website of the State Duma.
“We would suggest working out measures to increase liability, up to criminal liability for those who organize such illegal trade, illegal access to leaked personal data. It is necessary to severely punish those who form the demand for these leaks. This is the only way, in our opinion, to prevent this wave of fraud with our personal data,” Wagner said.
The representative of Roskomnadzor also noted that now the fine for the illegal dissemination of personal data does not exceed 100 thousand rubles.
The head of the committee, Alexander Khinshtein, supported this idea, noting that those who buy personal data on the black market should also be punished.
