Putin instructed to create a state information protection system

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed to develop a state system for the protection of information. He gave the relevant instructions to the participants of the meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, TASS reports.

The Head of State said that he expects concrete steps and proposals on “what additional steps should be taken to ensure the sustainable operation of the information infrastructure in government and public administration.”

President Putin also invited the Security Council to discuss the draft fundamentals of state policy in the field of ensuring the security of Russia’s critical IT infrastructure.

Coordination of actions of all information security structures of critical facilities should be fixed at the strategic level, and personal responsibility for solving these issues is assigned to the heads of organizations, the president said.

Putin is waiting for proposals on “how to stimulate not only import substitution processes in this most important area, but also the creation of their own unique products that are ahead of competitors.”

Among the key tasks, he called “cardinal reduction of risks associated with the use of foreign programs, computer technology and telecommunications equipment.”

The Head of State stressed that a large-scale war in cyberspace has been unleashed against Russia.

“The number of cyberattacks on the Russian information infrastructure has been constantly growing in recent years, precisely in recent years. Well, with the beginning of a special military operation in the Donbass, in Ukraine, the challenges in this area have become even more acute and serious, more ambitious,” the Russian leader said.
