Sberbank recommended that Russians temporarily abandon software updates due to the growing risks of device infection. Representatives of the bank explained that cases of the introduction of provocative media content into freely distributed software have become more frequent.

“We urge users to abandon software updates now, and developers to strengthen control over the use of external source code. If there is an urgent need to use software, be sure to check all downloaded files with an antivirus, and if you use someone else’s source code in your programs, perform a manual or automated check, including viewing the text of the source code,” the press service of Sberbank reported.

The use of such software can lead to infection of personal and corporate computers, as well as IT infrastructure.

If there is still a need to update devices, then Sberbank advised to check all downloaded files with an antivirus, the financial organization reports.

At the end of February, the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents (NCCC) warned of the threat of increasing the intensity of computer attacks on Russian information resources, including critical information infrastructure facilities against the background of the ongoing military operation in Ukraine.
