“In order to protect communities in Ukraine and Russia, we will hide information about people’s subscribers, those they are subscribed to, and people who subscribe to each other in personal accounts located in these countries,” the message says.
The new restrictions will also affect media with the State-controlled media label. Publications of “stories” containing links to Russian state media will be lowered in the output, as well as marked “so that people can know that they lead to the sites of Russian state media.”
Earlier, Ekaterina Mizulina, director of the “Safe Internet League”, a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, proposed blocking the social network Instagram on the territory of the country. Mizulina noted that false information and calls for illegal actions were actively distributed on Instagram. Therefore, she called for slowing down the social network in Russia during the military operation in Ukraine.
