Apple has officially announced that it has suspended all sales of its products in Russia.
«We are deeply concerned about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and support all people who suffer as a result of violence“,” Apple said in a statement. «We support humanitarian efforts, provide assistance in connection with the unfolding refugee crisis and do everything possible to support our teams in the region».
Apple has also disabled Apple Pay and other services (the exact list is not disclosed), the company said in a statement. The company also closed access to state media in the Apple Store outside of Russia.
Apple usually does not take any action in response to political events in other countries. Experts believe that the company may block the operation of all Apple mobile phones in Russia in the near future.
Last week, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov published on Twitter an open letter to Apple management calling for cutting off Russia from the company’s goods and services, as well as from the App Store.
