Toyota has suspended the operation of a factory in Japan in connection with a cyber attack. Toyota subsidiaries Hino Motors and Daihatsu Motor have also suspended some manufacturing operations at factories in Japan.

The closure of all factories will affect the production of about 10 thousand cars, or about 5% of Toyota’s monthly production in Japan.

“It’s true that we suffered from a cyberattack. We are still analyzing the damage and are in a hurry to respond, while the main priority is to resume the Toyota production system as soon as possible,” a source familiar with the situation at Kojima Industries (Toyota supplier) told Nikkei.

The company cannot yet say how long the shutdown of operations at 14 plants in Japan will last. Production processes at some plants owned by subsidiaries of Toyota Hino Motors and Daihatsu have also been stopped.
